Bonnie explained the structure and mission of the all-volunteer food pantry which operates as a 501(c3) organization under the Harry Chapin Food Bank umbrella and serves residents of only Pine Island and Matlacha. Bonnie stated that the number of recipients of food has doubled since Hurricane Ian (Sept 2022). The Food Pantry was founded in 1993 and its mission is: “No one goes
hungry on Pine Island.” PIGC donated $3,500 to the Food Pantry in May 2025 from Gala proceeds.
