Our March speaker was Amanda Manrique, Osprey Program Coordinator
Coastal Wildlife for SCCF.org
Amanda began working with SCCF in 2023 as a Sea Turtle Intern where she fell in love with field work. Since then, she has taken on several roles within the Coastal Wildlife department as the Sea Turtle Technician in 2024 and Sea Turtle Biologist in 2025. Amanda took on her latest title in January of 2026 as the Osprey Program Coordinator following the adoption of the monitoring program from TIOF.
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) is a non-profit organization based on Sanibel that aims to protect and conserve southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems through science, education, and advocacy. SCCF monitors several species including sea turtles, shorebirds, box turtles, bats, and indigo snakes. Most recently, SCCF has taken on the legacy of The International Osprey Foundation (TIOF) by monitoring and protecting ospreys (Pandion haliaetus) and their habitats. This program carries on decades of osprey nest monitoring, habitat restoration, and public education to ensure ospreys thrive in Southwest Florida and beyond.
